We will realize the people's dreams, The safest sea routes in the world
KOMSA engages in activities at international meetings, such as IMO, to handle the revisions, meet international standards and explore new maritime industrial sources.
In 2014, KOMSA was designated by MOF as a professional organization to cope with IMO meetings, and has taken a lead in the activities of Korea with IMO, by participating in IMO Committees and Sub-Committees, Assembly and Council.
With the above, KOMSA works to identify and study new technologies, by analyzing the trend in the rapidly changing maritime safety technologies and marine environment protection following the development of ICT. Especially, it leads the implementation of the IMO GHG reduction strategy, and contributes to the adoption of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (MASS) operation as well as the international standardization of Korean e-Navigation which was developed by the SMART-Navigation project in Korea.
Regarding the international standardization of MASS, KOMSA, through its built-up expertise and know-how on international meetings, performs the works as a principal organization, on the MASS R&D project of Korea.
Even in the future, KOMSA would represent the interests of Korea, by establishing strategies towards international organizations for standardization such as IMO, ISO, and IEC, and joining the onsite meetings, and continue its efforts to make the technologies developed in Korea as international standards.
