Ship Emission Management System Operation

Overview of Ship Emission Management System (SEM)

Purpose of Operation

  • Establishment of a system (2018) for the implementation of international regulations and integrated management of air pollutants from ships
  • Expansion of system functionalities to implement regulations introduced for maritime greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction (IMO Data Collection System (DCS) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII)).

Main Functions

Implementation of GHG Reduction Regulations (IMO DCS, CII) by Domestic Shipping Companies

Enhances convenience in voluntary ship operation efficiency management through automatic calculation of CII, self-simulation functionality, and provision of technical information.

Coastal Vessel GHG Emissions Survey and Database Management

Analyzes the current status of GHG emissions from coastal shipping and utilizes this data to designate high-emitting shipping companies as entities under targeted emission management in the shipping sector.

Calculation of Air Pollutant Emissions from Ships

Calculates ship-induced air pollutant emissions using operational information (arrival and departure records by port and ship) and detailed ship specifications (ship type, tonnage, output, etc.).
